Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I renew my ACLS certification?

You want to continue to have the ability to save lives. It may seem like certifying once would allow you to use ACLS to keep saving lives forever, but ACLS guidelines and best practices – and therefore the certification requirements – are constantly changing and evolving. This is why you’re required to complete your ACLS recertification every two years – better methods and improved technologies are constantly being discovered and revealed, which makes staying on top of the knowledge the key to continue saving lives.

Why should I do my ACLS renewal online?

By offering ACLS recertification in an entirely online format and environment, we are able to make your recertification process simple and convenient, because you don’t have to drive to a class or pick an exact time to schedule your course. Study and take your ACLS recertification test at home, on break, or any place and time that works best for you. And because we don’t need to set up physical venues and instructors, we are able to keep ACLS renewal costs low and pass those savings on to you. Our training and recertification programs are offered 100% online, are nationally accredited, and are always current and kept up-to-date with the latest techniques, methods, and knowledge.

Can you really renew your ACLS online? Are online recertification courses valid?

Absolutely, and that’s what we’re here for! Our online ACLS recertification courses are accepted as hour-for-hour equivalents to in-person classes by most medical institutions and employers (though we do recommend that you confirm that with your own employer before signing up for your ACLS renewal with us). Our online courses are accredited in joint partnership with the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PIM). Over one hundred thousand healthcare professionals have successfully earned and maintained their emergency life support certifications with our online ACLS renewal courses, and we work closely with healthcare facilities to have our cards accepted for you all in institutions over the US.

How long is ACLS good for?

Your ACLS certification is valid for two years. Every two years, you will need to get your ACLS recertification to remain actively certified. You can get your ACLS renewal online through one of our recertification courses.

Does ACLS recertification count as CEU? How many CEUs do you get for ACLS renewal?

Our online ACLS renewal courses, as well as our PALS and NRP recertification courses, are approved for 4 CEUs/CMEs (original certification courses are approved for 8 CEUs/CMEs). For more information, please visit our Accreditation page. The BLS recertification course is approved for 2 CEUs/CMEs. (The original BLS certification course is approved for 4 CEUs/CMEs.)

Is there a grace period for ACLS renewal? My current certification has already expired.

We suggest that you don’t let your certification lapse for more than 60 days before you complete the ACLS renewal course online. Employers have varying requirements, so we recommend that you ask your employer about their own requirements for recertification. When you’re ready to renew, our ACLS recertification courses are designed to help busy professionals like you recertify quickly and conveniently.
